Java Developer II

JOB DESCRIPTION

We are looking for a mid-level Java developer that excels at design, problem solving as well as implementation using efficient, innovative approaches and solutions. This position is responsible for the design and development of Xpressdocs applications. Developers work both independently and as part of the development team. The position requires the ability to establish task timelines and track against project plans and guidelines.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop enterprise Java applications based on industry standard design patterns using Core Java, J2EE, Hibernate, Struts, Velocity, AJAX / JSON, Spring and other XML technologies
  • Participates on project teams, doing application analysis, development and modifications
  • Participate in design discussions and contribute to enterprise-wide technology decisions (e.g., appropriate technology choice, approach, process, etc.)
  • Will be responsible for development of information models, such as class, sequence and entity relationship diagrams
  • Makes complex modifications to existing software applications and modules in accordance with high-level specifications, application support, and industry standards
  • Implements unit tests, participates in system and integration testing with cross business applications
  • Assist team in defining, documenting and managing Xpressdocs applications, application processes and application functionality
  • Assist other support resources in the administration and support of existing or future applications and systems

REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor's in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Software Engineering degree required
  • 3+ years of Java / J2EE development experience with tiered, large-scale systems including at least 1 year of JSE 5.0 (1.5) or JSE 6.0 (1.6)
  • 3+ years working with SQL-based (preferably MySQL / Postgres) database architectures
  • Experience with: J2EE, Hibernate, Struts, Velocity, AJAX, JSON, Spring, Log4J, Web Services, Java2D, JUnit and Jakarta Common libraries and their respective practices
  • Working knowledge of XML in a Java programming environment
  • Must have excellent problem solving and communication skills
  • Must be self-motivated, detail oriented, with ability to multi-task and meet deadlines
  • Experience with iText, IDML, PHP, SVN and Trac are a plus
  • Java certifications are a plus
